Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6 (NASB)
I love the first four words of this verse, “be anxious for nothing”. This verse talks about prayer and the effect and power of it. The conclusion I want to draw is simply this: prayer removes anxiety.
Paul explains to us here that you should not be anxious about anything but that you should pray. Prayer is one of the most powerful things anyone can ever do. This is the way to connect heaven and earth. Prayer brings God’s Kingdom into the earth in a way that no other action or behavior can do.
A few years ago I faced a situation that was extremely difficult. It involved a lot of conflict with an individual who wanted to destroy the church. Sin infiltrated on leadership level and I faced what felt like a “do or die” decision. The church wasn’t even two years old then.
I realised that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 (NASB). So I contacted an advisor and received great counsel on the way I should pray against this particular spiritual force which was coming against the church. With my wife and one other person, we prayed and did a prophetic act to remove the stronghold from our church. We were very careful to direct everything against the spiritual realm, and not against any person as praying against people is nothing but witchcraft.
We prayed a very specific and intentional prophetic prayer against this stronghold and within two days, that grueling season which lasted for nearly a year was diffused. Now, seven years on, the situation has never come up again in that same manner.
No matter what you are facing at the moment. You have a power in you that is greater than that what you are facing at moment. God gave you His resurrection power that destroyed death, hell, and the grave. So, get up and take back that what is yours in Jesus' Name.
